Of being a great soul

I have always been amazed by the progress of beginners. Especially when one started with Putrajaya Critical Mass. I've always been awed on cyclists who would take cycling as easy as cycling should be. Not just in terms of being a performance rider but also to enjoy the sweet time of cycling. That's one of the great joy being with Putrajaya Critical Mass. Being only ten months old, I personally feel most of us have accomplished a lot, together taking baby steps with PCM.

But, last ride was somehow surprised me in a very curious way.

The police has "interfered" in our beloved mass ride. No violence. Only a minor interrogations to one of our favourite massers. He couldn't ride that day as he was injured from a recent hash. But he voluntarily escorted till the last guy in the mass. Nothing serious happened between the police and the escort. Thank God for that. Maybe it is not a big deal but I think one should not close one eye and let be.

What disappoint me most is - the fact Putrajaya being a bicycle city, why there are still "vague" rules to cycle in Putrajaya?

Such like the dispute between the guards at Putrajaya Mosque and Putrajaya Easy Riders.

We've received a very supportive and constructive comment from one the fellow Putrajaya Easy Riders last night. One that moved me and somehow, I believe, many of us share the same idea and opinion.

"Daoh,
Don't worry about the policemen. The next time we ride, maybe they will give us VIP escort!
PCM has promoted Putrajaya to the world. The relevant authorities should salute us for dong a great job.

What matters next in our 27th February ride is to choose the least traffic route and a better starting point. My suggestion is the Palace of Justice where it is brightly lit and there is ample open parking beside the Palace of Justice building. We can write in to Perbadanan to inform them. We do not need their approval, because it is a public place. The Dataran at the Mosque would have been ideal, but there are too many cars there on a Friday Night.

We can start at the PoP and head towards the Mosque Dataran. From there we head out to join the main internal circular road in the middle of Putrajaya via the PM's Dept and head to Alamanda and then on our outer ring road towards Pinggiran Putra and PICC and then we head back to our starting point at PoP.

This distance is about the same as our normal route. I will keep on looking for a better route as we go on, which will be longer and more importantly safe for all riders.

Some might ask why start from a place where there is no drinking hole, i.e mamak shop?

Well, we can say that since we want to ride healthy, the idea of minum sampai pagi at the mamak shop is optional. Anyway, they can go to the mamak shop after ashort rest at the finishing point and then pack their bikes. In this way, at least we can see the big group before and after the ride. Dekat mamak shop tu, kita dok tersepit dekat other vehicles. Tak nampak the Critical Mass. Lagi pun lepas kayuh kita boleh berkenalan dengan yang lain lain, instead of rushing to the mamak shop."

Azudin, Lt Kol (retired)
Putrajaya E Riders

So what do you guys think?
Should we write a letter of pemission to the police?
Should we ignore?
Should we give a try for a new meeting point?
Let us know. Putrajaya Critical Mass is ours.

Letter to the police.. I think better go and see the person incharge dulu kot... tanya pendapat camne...since pak polisi tu pun cakap boss dia dah tau pasal pcm nih...

mana tau polis baik hati akan escort ke for safety reason kan..

Pasal route.. cadangan baik tu. Parking pun senang kat sebelah JPN/depan BPP..minum2 afterwards optional lah.. aku bukak gerai pun boleh ahahaha

Daoh,

Tak tau nak cakap apa... kalau dah buat surat nanti kena bantai kaw-kaw lagi pasal isu definition. Kalau tak buat ramai yang tak nak join sebab takut.

But Daoh, my concerned about the ride is not about the definition but this, the awareness.

Just do whatever neccessary daoh.

Pelajar maut nahas ke sekolah
Oleh Nazdy Harun
am@hmetro.com.my

Daoh

aku sokong tempat baru tu.

Anthem3rider

Memang awareness penting. Motorist kena respect cyclists especially budak sekolah. Tapi parents kena gak ajar road safety pada anak2 diaorg bila berbasikal. 6.50am tu skarang masih gelap. Kena pasang lampu belakang dan depan. Pakai baju reflector macam naik motor tu. Kena tengok belakang gak bila dekat junctions. Ramai yang ambil ringan tentang keselamatan nih terutama bila jarak dekat. Bila kemalangan cakap naik basikal bahaya. Kita kena tau sebab sebenar macam mana kemalangan tu berlaku.

Tuan,
Saya setuju kalau tulis surat kat polis Putrajaya on the monthly ride activity. Or else they can spoil it. On the change of routes and meeting point no problem. What we want is a safe ride as possible for everybody.

What are you trying to prove anthem3rider? What we want is constructive ideas, not dumb ramblings.

Hey…proud to note here, PCM have moved forward by leaps and bounds. Where else can u find people fully geared from head to toe?

Agreed:
• New meeting point - Palace of Justice
• Dataran Masjid – 1st pit stop (Create awareness to the public)
• 2nd pit stop…

Azudin, Lt Kol (retired) Putrajaya Easy Riders, Angah & others have offered their help.
We love PCM, no doubt about it!

Maybe…
• Have 2 markers with mini flags, one as the leader & one as the sweeper
• Speed limit could be enforced. We ride 20km only…I do not wanna come all the way & finish it in 20 minutes. Speed demons can race to hell on Sundays.

What I'm trying to prove here, PCM must go on to continously support the awareness.
If a letter to Police is needed, then do it. Don't stop this beautiful idea because of no letter.

Bagi aku, kalau polis dah sound, better get one letter la, nak lagi bagus, invite sekali polis-polis tu kayuh.. terus no issue.

Kalau angah dah kenal dengan ASP tu, lagi bagus la dia ajak sekali, at least ASP tu boleh tolong cover atau explain dekat boss dia...

Man CIOCC said...

Thank you anthem3rider,

Got u loud n clear, really sorry if I have misjudged your objective. As ol' as I am, I am rather sensitive.

As far as the "mat-mat beskal bawak gitar" are concerned, it's an open road. U choose your own path.

meeting point aku setuju.. tarak hal nyer
kalau pasal polis tu.. ikutkan hati takyah je sebab kenapa sekarang tetiba jek nak sibuk.. tapi for the sake of PCM, buatlah kot. sebab takut nanti tetiba jek kuar pekiling kata tak leh cycle in a mass kat area Putrajaya.. payah.. local council kat putrajaya kan suka buat mende2 pelik neh

Anonymous said...

rudy,

local council rasanya tak de hal ... 'unlocal' council je la yang bermasalah.

last pcm, one of top personnel local council pun ride dengan kita.

Abg Man ... no hal la...

Apa kata, apa 'authority' nak, kita bagi. Susah sgt ke? Ego sgt ke nak hantar surat memberitahu pak cik polis tu? Kang ade yang tiba2 mati sakit jantung semasa kayuh, well ajal kat tangan tuhan. Safe mana pun kalau dah time, u go man. Polis yang responsible. Betol tak?

Daoh Darko said...

Anonymous,
Mmg nak bagi pun... Tak payah la tuduh kami ni ego...

Duduk kat depan pc, baca blog, and kasi comment tetiba monitor meletup, serpihan pecah masuk muka ngan kepala, mata dah buta, satu terjerat kat tekak, satu tercucuk kat otak, terus coma 2 minit pastu mati. Pun boleh jugak, ajal mmg kat tangan tuhan.

Tapi kat sini kita tak pernah mintak bala. Apa lagi kalau nak cakap kita ni ego. Jadinya memang nak bagi surat.

Saya marah ke? Taklah... Sayakan ego. Hehe...

Bagus la..korang nak park kat PoJustice..situ lebih baik.Ni nak bg idea..sbb aku pon penah wat gathering kat Putrajaya, aku cadangan korang bg tau polis.Kat mana korang park, maner nak lalu, leh la dia hantar pegawai dok ronda selalu kat tempat korang park.Selamat sikit..dia org spoting ler!

Anonymous,

Sapa cakap susah nak bagitau pak cik polis?. Memang tengah berbincang pun. Dalam PCM ada ramai orang. PCM ni tak de organizer, Daoh ke, Man CIOCC ke, ROP ke, Jomkayuh ke, PERs ke...

Agaknya kebetulan semua nak kayuh pada time yang sama, lepas tu berkumpul time yang sama, lepas tu lalu route yang sama ... nak buat camner?. Tu yang jadi ramai tu.

Dalam kepala memang tak terpikir pun nak bagitau polis... kayuh basikal sorang - sorang, nak panggil polis apa?. Tapi macam saya cakap tadi... dah kebetulan pulak hari sama, time sama, route sama .... :p betul tak daoh? 'Kebetulan' :p

Ni yang baru terpikir nak bagitau polis.

Kami bukan ego.

Bila kami naik basikal, orang cakap EGO lak. Pelik betul la.

Kami bukannya penunggang berbaju merah, polis tegur kami, kami berbincang untuk penuhi kehendak polis. Penunggang baju merah?. Baru kena tegur dengan polis, satu dunia kompang cakap polis jahat. Tak pulak orang cakap mereka ego malah orang cakap mereka hero?.
